Jay-Z + Kanye West - Watch the Throne
Two of the biggest rappers collaborate for probably the best album of the year.
Adele - 21
Do I really need to explain why? Listen to Someone Like You if you are unsure.
Florence + the Machine - Ceremonials
I saw Florence in concert in Toronto and her vocal range gave me goose bumps. She is an amazing artist and Never Let Me Go is probably the best song on this amazing album.
Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
A mixture of new Coldplay (a la Viva la Vida) and old Coldplay (more like X&Y). Us Against the World and Charlie Brown are my two favourite tracks from this album.
Ben Howard - Every Kingdom
Most people probably haven’t heard of Ben Howard. He’s a 23 year old singer/songwriter from England and his debut album was well received by critics. It’s stripped back raw acoustic sound. Definitely check out this album if you like Mumford and Sons. Favourite song: Promise
Snow Patrol - Fallen Empires
If you watched Grey’s Anatomy, you definitely know who these guys are. This album they go back to their Chasing Cars roots. Overall a solid album from track 1 to track 15. I highly recommend The Garden Rules, Lifening, and This Isn’t Everything You Are.
Rizzle Kicks - Stereo Typical
Rizzle Kicks are a mash-up of old school sound with new school rhythm. Check out Down with the Trumpets and you’ll know what I mean.
Feist - Metals
She hits it out of the park again with this album. You can easily unwind and zone out listening to this album. Check out The Bad in Eachother.
Bombay Bicycle Club - A Different Kind of Fix
Fine…call me a hipster. But like it or not, Bombay Bicycle Club is a solid band and they are here to stay. This album has been on Zane Lowe’s top 10 albums of the year and he has much better taste in music than me so if you don’t take it from me, take it from him. Best songs on the album Shuffle and Still.
Christina Perri - Lovestrong
Soulfulness of Adele with a softer more intimate voice. I immediately fell in love with this amazing album. Favourite song is Sad Song .
Noah and the Whale - Last Night on Earth
Greg James of BBC Radio 1 introduced them to me on his Record of the Week segment and they were definitely an album I had on repeat for most of the summer. Just amazing indie music. Check out Life is Life and Tonight’s the Kind of Night.
The Black Keys - Brothers
Great rock music. None of that Nickelback shit. Check out Too Afraid to Love You.
So excited to see them in concert in July.
I can’t believe this song came out in ‘06. Amazing.
i hate glee. but lea michelle has a set of pipes. this is probably one of the best renditions of auld lang syne i’ve heard.
Amazing. Simply Amazing.

If you like it, please consider it a thank-you present from your GQ tumblrers. We passed a milestone in followers here earlier this evening—we’ll keep the number to ourselves in the tumblr spirit of earth and people, but it did make those of us here feel feelings. So thanks, and seriously, watch the video. It’s an unexpectedly fantastic way to start a weekend.

I’ve had a chance to listen to 2009 X-Factor runner up Olly Murs’ second album and it’s great British pop. This is my favourite song off the album.
I became a fan of The Fray with that oh so famous song How To Save a Life (from Grey’s Anatomy) and I have continuously been impressed with the quality of their music. Heartbeat is a song off their latest album Scars and Stories (available for pre-order on iTunes). This song and ‘The Fighter’ which you get when you pre-order the album are great songs which hold true to their brand of music - good american indie rock.
Remember Jude Harrison and the CTV show Instant Star? Well Alexz Johnson has released at least one album since her days playing the singing contest winner turned super star on the small screen. Skipping Stone is her newest single. I like it more because it’s stripped back and is just raw compared to some of her older music. Definitely a positive progression.
This song is amazing. Miike Snow kills it and am loving the horns at the tail end of the chorus. A band to watch in 2012 when their second studio album drops in March.
